2014 NBA Playoff Preview

Surprise Teams and Underdogs

These are the current standings for 1-8 seeds in each conference however with around 10 games remaining other teams still have an outside chance at taking over the 7th or 8th seeds. In the Eastern Conference the Knicks, Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, and Boston Celtics are still alive. The most notable team is the New York Knicks who have been underachieving since they acquired Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks have the best shot at overtaking the Hawks for the 8th spot with only 3 games separating the teams.

In the Western Conference, besides the 8 teams listed, there are technically 3 other teams still alive in the playoff picture. Although the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are mathematically still breathing the Dallas Mavericks are the only of the three who could easily flip-flop with the Suns and Grizzlies for the 7th or 8th seed during the next 2 weeks of the regular season.

So far this years surprises have been the Toronto Raptors, Phoenix Suns, and Chicago Bulls. Yes the Bulls have had a great nucleus over the past few years but with former MVP Derrick Rose going out early in the season once again it looked like another wasted season for Chicago. The Bulls have come on strong since the All-Star break with MVP-like performances from Joakim Noah and stellar guard play from DJ Augustine. Look for Chicago to make some noise during the 1st and 2nd rounds. The Toronto Raptors could find themselves entering the 2nd and possibly the 3rd round this year under head coach Dwane Casey with scoring star DeMar DeRozan. The Raptors also have consistent play from Amir Johnson and Terrence Ross.

Front-Runners and Favorites

This years favorites for the NBA's Larry O'Brien Trophy include powerhouse teams from both the Eastern and Western Conference. In the east nobody would be surprised if the Miami Heat 3 Peat, however maybe 2014 is the year for the Indiana Pacers to bump King James off of his thrown. In the west the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and the Los Angeles Clippers all find themselves in prime position to get to the NBA "Promised Land".

Regardless if you're a fan of one of the underdogs or you want to see another title for the Spurs or Heat we have all your NBA playoff ticket needs online for discount prices at www.HotBoxTickets.com

2014 NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship Game

Men's Basketball National Championship - Monday April 7, 2014 8:00PM - AT&T Stadium - Arlington, TX

So now that we've got the game schedule posted for all you bracketology nuts let us pour out some of our predictions and teams to look out for come March 18th. As of right now the official Top 10 teams are Florida, Wichita State, Arizona, Duke, Virginia, Villanova, Syracuse, Kansas, Wisconsin, and San Diego State respectively.

Of these teams we believe Florida and Arizona have the best chance at getting to the Final Four in Arlington, TX. Yes Wichita State has been a great team and could find themselves at AT&T Stadium however we believe their undefeated run will only make it through the Sweet 16 to the Elite 8 of this years bracket.

Teams having legitimate potential to make a run towards a 2014 Final Four appearance and possible National Championship include Duke, Syracuse, and don't sleep on Louisville as having an outside shot as repeat champions. The rest of the Top 25 has some very dangerous threats who could easily knock out some of the higher seeds late in the tournament if they can make it through the early rounds. A deep Iowa Hawkeyes team, a surging North Carolina Tar Heels squad, the veteran led Creighton Bluejays, and an experienced Cincinnati Bearcats roster could all make noise in this years tournament. Keep in mind the Memphis Tigers, Michigan State, and Oklahoma as well.

Nobody knows how the bracket will look when it's all over however you can be sure the excitement and intensity will be high as ever in this annual win or go home basketball tourney.
